Nothing on this page is official. Rockstar has announced GTA 6 only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. These estimates are derived from console hardware analysis and Rockstar’s previous PC ports — we tell you our reasoning so you can judge it yourself.

First: Is There Even a PC Version?

Not yet. As of July 2026, no PC port exists or has been announced. Rockstar’s pattern, however, is consistent: GTA V took 19 months to reach PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 took 13. Applied to a November 2026 console launch, that lands a PC release somewhere between late 2027 and mid 2028.

Why the wait? Rockstar concentrates on console optimization first, then builds the PC version as a separate effort tuned for the chaos of real-world hardware — which is also why their PC ports tend to arrive polished rather than broken.

Estimated Specifications

Our baseline: the PS5’s hardware profile (Zen 2 CPU, RDNA 2 GPU, fast NVMe streaming) translated to PC equivalents, adjusted upward for the OS overhead and the fact that the port will target 2028-era hardware.

Minimum (1080p / 30fps) Recommended (4K / 60fps)
OS Windows 10 64-bit Windows 11 64-bit
CPU Ryzen 5 3600 / Core i5-10600 Ryzen 7 5800X / Core i7-12700K
RAM 16 GB 32 GB
GPU RTX 2060 / RX 5700 RTX 4070 / RX 7800 XT
VRAM 6 GB 12 GB
Storage 150 GB SSD 200 GB NVMe SSD

Expect the usual modern PC feature set: DLSS/FSR upscaling, configurable ray tracing, uncapped framerates, ultrawide support, and an optional high-resolution texture pack.

Storage Reality Check

GTA V’s enhanced PC build occupies ~110 GB and RDR2 needs ~150 GB. GTA 6’s world is substantially larger with denser assets, so plan for 150+ GB base, growing past 200 GB with hi-res textures and post-launch updates. Asset streaming in the RAGE engine is built around fast storage — a SATA SSD is the floor, NVMe is the sane choice.

Should You Upgrade Now? Our Honest Take

No — not for GTA 6. This is the answer a spec table won’t give you: any GPU you buy today will be a full generation old before the PC port ships. If you’re building a PC anyway, spend where Rockstar ports have historically rewarded it:

  1. VRAM and storage headroom over raw clocks. Rockstar’s engines punish VRAM starvation more than slow shaders — 12 GB+ is the comfortable floor.
  2. 32 GB RAM is the safe baseline for a 2028-era open world.
  3. Hold the GPU purchase. The card that will actually run GTA 6 well at 4K probably isn’t on sale yet — and the ones that are will be cheaper by then.
